A time capsule was discovered in the Council Tower of Sibiu during restoration work on the monument; the objects found were taken to the Brukenthal National Museum for restoration.
The Council Tower, one of Sibiu’s best-known historical monuments, preserves numerous layers of history within its structure, museum representatives note.
Furthermore, the discovery of the capsule offers a new perspective on the city’s past and opens the possibility for research into the timing, context, and individuals who decided to preserve these testimonies for future generations.
The period to which the capsule belongs, the context in which it was deposited, and its contents will be determined after laboratory operations are completed.
The time capsule cannot be visited at this stage because the priority is its conservation and the protection of the historical information it contains.
